Running Time became my artist name a few years
ago.It was planned to be video art label/collective I wanted to launch to curate events, performances and do video releases.I kept that name afterwards to sign my films.
Circuit bending is important in my work so far cause I started bending video devices before bending audio stuff.Usually people start with audio cause it's easier and
cheaper. It is less frutrating to fry a casio keyboard than a costly video mixer.
I stepped into bending while I was building myself a controller out of a mouse to do video scratching on Arkaos(a terrible Vj program in 2006).I was rapidly seduced by the « hacking » approach of things.
One day I built a video enhancer sodl as a kit.As I soldered some parts the wrong way the image was fucked up when i tried it and I found the result pretty interesting and loved the aesthetic of jammed image.I guess I was hooked that day and never quit bending ever since !
What I like the most about it is the way you appropriate something making it your own and use it in a different way it's supposed to which is the defintion of hacking I guess. So building my own video tools and audio intruments to produce your own visuals and sounds is what drives me in that domain.
The idea of « unleashing » something that is somehow hidden in there is really exciting to me.
about the future: I don't see how i could answer that as I have no opinion about some that hasn't happened and do not exist but I think we can expect some serious sociological events in a close future and I try to take it as something exciting to witness.
Being a dad kinda make me apprehend life in a more positive way as before but I guess we need to deal with fear now.Not fear like during the cold war but a more legitimate fear.Fear of the unknown as our system collapse and quite noone in the higher spheres of power has some alternative model ready for our society.
So I see some dark and rough times coming that would be a transition to our real future that I hope will be bright.
